Another Zim bus in accident

A Bulawayo bound Mzansi Express bus from South Africa veered off the road after a trailer unhooked from the bus near Gwanda, early Wednesday morning.

The bus was traveling from Johannesburg to Bulawayo when the accident occurred about 10 kilometers out of Gwanda.

Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Matabeleland South spokesperson Inspector Philisani Ndebele confirmed the accident.

“I can confirm there was an accident that occurred of a Mzansi bus that was coming from South Africa,” said Insp Ndebele.

“What we have gathered so far is that the bus was somewhere between Collenbawn and Gwanda. We haven’t established the kilometer peg or the exact time of the accident”.

Inspector Ndebele said the trailer unhooked forcing the bus to veer off the road.

“No one was hurt in the accident. Details are still sketchy but we hope to get more during the course of the day,” he added.

The accident comes a few months after a Brooklyn Express bus which plies the same route was burnt to a shell and claimed the lives of 40 passengers.

This accident was preceded by another bus accident near Rusape where 46 people lost their lives when two buses side-swiped at the 166-kilometer peg along the Harare-Mutare highway.
