Cyrene High School, in Matabeleland South, is struggling to raise donations to revamp two dormitories whose roofs were blown-off by strong winds last week.
Following the unfortunate incident, authorities at the school immediately appealed for donations from both parents and members of the public to repair the damaged structures.
About ZW$75 000, according to the school head, Charles Bhebhe, is needed to restore the dormitories.
While Bhebhe could not be drawn into disclosing how much they had received since they made the appeal, he told CITE, the donations were not enough to revamp the two buildings.
“We have not managed to raise enough donations for us to refurbish the dormitories; most parents have not managed to do much,” said Bhebhe.
“The donations that we have since received are not enough for us to finish the two dormitories, but I cannot reveal what has been donated as that is private.”

facia board asbestos 21m, corrugated Roof Sheets 3.6mx70cmx60, ridges for corrugated sheets 21m, Wire nails 100mm x 10kgs, wire nails 75mm x 5kgs, zinc nails 12kgs, I.B.R sheets 4.2m x 76x 28, I.B.R sheets 70 x 76x 36, four bags of cement, one-tonne pit sand, I. B. R ridges x 36 and wire nails 50mm x 5kgs.
The headmaster said should the donations come through; repairs would be done within a time frame of five days to enable pupils to return their dormitories.
“We hope by next week Friday (4 October) we would have managed to receive enough donations,” added Bhebhe.
