Background
The Zimbabwe Christian Alliance (ZCA) is a faith-based organisation that brings together Christian institutions and leaders to promote peacebuilding, social justice, and community development in Zimbabwe.
ZCA works at the intersection of faith and civic engagement, leveraging the moral authority and wide reach of churches to influence positive social
change. Through its networks, ZCA facilitates dialogue, strengthens community cohesion, and promotes citizen participation in governance processes. ZCA is implementing a Faith-Based Community Resilience Project that positions churchesand traditional leaders as drivers of ecological sustainability, social accountability, andeconomic empowerment.
The project operates through seven (7) established hubs (Hwange, Lupane, Plumtree, Gwanda, Masvingo, Gweru, and Chinhoyi), leveraging their legitimacy, reach, and convening power within communities.
To support effective implementation and results measurement, ZCA seeks to engage a qualified consultant/firm to conduct a baseline study. Purpose of the
Assignment
The baseline study will establish benchmark data on key project indicators, assess community knowledge, attitudes, and practices, and inform project implementation, monitoring, and learning.
Scope of Work
The consultant will:
Design and implement a mixed-methods baseline study
Collect and analyse data across all 7 faith hubs
Assess community status in:
o Ecological sustainability
o Social accountability and cohesion
o Economic empowerment and livelihoods
Develop baseline values for key indicators
Produce a comprehensive baseline report with practical recommendations
Key Deliverables
Inception Report (methodology, tools, workplan)
Draft Baseline Report
Final Baseline Report
Clean dataset and data collection tools
Presentation of findings to stakeholders
Duration
The assignment is expected to be completed within 20–30 working days.
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal consultant/firm should have: A postgraduate qualification in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Environmental
Studies, or related field
At least 5 years’ experience conducting baseline or evaluation studies
Strong expertise in mixed-methods research and data analysis
Experience in climate, governance, or livelihoods programming
Experience working with faith-based or community structures is an added advantageApplication Requirements
