Bioskop! Short Film Competition Zimbabwe now open
Aspiring and established filmmakers in Zimbabwe and the diaspora are invited to unleash their creativity and participate in the fifth edition of the Bioskop! Short Film Competition Zimbabwe.
This exciting competition, a highlight of the European Film Festival Zimbabwe, provides a platform for filmmakers to showcase their talent and connect with a wider audience.

The film festival will take place from October 11 to 19, 2024, with main events in Harare and Bulawayo, and pop-up screenings in Kadoma and Gweru.
This year’s competition theme, “Beyond Boundaries: Empowering Women Through Film,” encourages filmmakers to explore the complexities of gender and the power of human connection.
A panel of industry experts will judge the entries based on content, creativity, and technical merit. Winners will receive cash prizes in categories such as Best Narrative Short, Best Documentary Short, Best Sound Editing, Best Cinematography, Best Diaspora Film, and Best Actor/Actress.
The European Film Festival Zimbabwe, now in its ninth year, has become a cornerstone of the local film industry, providing a platform for both European and African cinema. The festival aims to nurture local talent and foster collaboration between Zimbabwean and international filmmakers.
