Woman seeks financial help for husband’s cancer treatment

Monica Khumalo from Ebhekeni, Ntabazinduna is appealing for financial assistance of US$600 for her husband Edwin Khumalo to undergo a series of tests and an operation in Bulawayo to determine the type of cancer affecting him and to receive treatment.

The 66-year-old started feeling unwell around October and would cough blood. Monica Khumalo said her husband’s body was also getting swollen.

“We took him to Mpilo Hospital on 6 November 2023, and they said he has cancer which affects the whole body, his body gets swollen, and the Computed Tomography (CT) scan showed that he has a problem in his liver and lungs,” said Khumalo.

She said they were told that there was a lump blocking the flow of blood which caused his body to get swollen.

“At the moment they said they want him to undergo an operation so that they can take a sample of the lump so they can tell which type of cancer it is and whether it can be cured,” said Khumalo.

“We are appealing for money as the doctor said he has to undergo an operation so that they can see how to help him. They wanted US$600 so we didn’t have it and failed to raise it.”

Those willing to assist can get in touch with Monica Khumalo on 071 701 1054.
