President Mnangagwa grants state-assisted funeral to crash victims

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has accorded a state-assisted funeral to the victims of the horrific head-on collision which claimed the lives of 22 people on Tuesday evening.
The tragic accident, which involved a Toyota Quantum minibus and a truck, left 22 people dead and two others seriously injured.
โGovernment will, weigh by according victims of this horrendous crash State-assisted burial,โ Mnangagwa said in a statement.
โAs I express my deepest, heartfelt condolences to families and relatives who have lost their loved ones in this deadly crash, my heart goes out to all those injured and still hospitalised, praying that theirs will be a speedy recoveryโ.
President Mnangagwa said the fatal crash โleft me horrified and heart-brokenโ as he appealed โto all motorists to exercise maximum caution on our roads, both for their sake and for the safety of fellow road users who do not deserve a violent end such as we have just witnessedโ.
He also directed โall arms of Government seized with the responsibility of ensuring safety on our roadsโ to end road carnage.
โNo effort should be spared towards ensuring compliance with our traffic rules, in order to avert any more such accidents which invariably leave scores dead and injured,โ he added.
The president also implored motorists to develop a new road culture โwhich is founded on responsible, safety-conscious and law-abiding behaviourโ.
