Byo mourns ‘talented and illustrious son’ Clive Chigubu
Bulawayo mayor Solomon Mguni says the city has lost a talented and illustrious son in comedian Clive Chigubu who died on Wednesday morning.
Chigubu,31, was diagnosed with Diffuse Large B Cell Lymphoma a month ago, which had left him bedridden and struggling to talk.
“His worship Solomon Mguni, the Mayor, Aldermen, Councilors, Town Clerk, Mr C Dube, Heads of Council Department and staff of the City of Bulawayo have learnt with sadness of the passing on of comedian Clive Chigubu,” said Mayor Mguni, in a condolence message, Thursday.
“Our greatest sympathy goes to the Chigubhu family, the arts industry, Bulawayo, and the nation at large. We mourn and celebrate the life of the talented and illustrious son of the City of Kings.”
He said Chigubu will be missed for his catchy phrase yeee yeee! which he incorporated in most of his stand up comedy sets.
“The City is bereft of the talent lost especially in the comedy industry. Chigubhu is also known for his catchphrase yeee yeee will be sorely missed. The city’s creative arts sector is poor without him.”
Chigubu will be laid to rest on Saturday.
