Zimbabwe recorded 3 110 Covid-19 cases over the past 24 hours, health authorities announced on Thursday, the highest since the pandemic broke out last year.
This figure brings the cumulative number of cases to 76 381.
Bulawayo, for the second time this week recorded the highest number of deaths after 20 people died of the respiratory disease.
The other nine provinces reported less than 10 deaths each.
A total of 58 people died yesterday bringing the total number of lives lost to 2 332.
According to the Covid-19 daily update report issued by the Ministry of Health and Child Care, Wednesday, Mashonaland West recorded the highest number of new cases where 437 people tested positive, closely followed by 422 cases in Harare.
“Mashonaland East had 393 new cases, Bulawayo 358, Manicaland 310, Matabeleland South 295, Mashonaland Central 285, Masvingo 255, Midlands 190 and Matabeleland North 165,” read the report.
A total of 12 604 PCR Tests were conducted in the last 24 hours.
“There are 883 hospitalised cases. 114 are new admissions, 261 are asymptomatic cases, 516 are mild to moderate, 66 are severe and 40 are in Intensive Care Units,” the report stated.
“33 090 received their 1st dose, bringing cumulative to 988 746 while 5 011 received their 2nd dose bringing cumulative to 624 894.”
As of 14 July 2021, Zimbabwe has recorded 76 381 cases 49 053 recoveries and 2 332 deaths.
