52 more people succumb to Covid-19

Fifty-two more people succumbed to Covid-19 in the last 24 hour-cycle bringing the death toll to 825.

Mashonaland West Province recorded 15 deaths, followed by Mashonaland Central which had 11 deaths.

The latest statement from the Ministry of Health and Child Care released Tuesday shows that a total of 783 new cases have been recorded, bringing the cumulative number of cases to 28 675.

Provinces which recorded the highest number of new cases are Harare (251), Mashonaland Central (156) and Mashonaland West (120).

Mashonaland East recorded 76 new cases, Midlands 51, Manicaland 44, Masvingo 41 and Bulawayo 26.

“783 new cases and 52 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours. All are local transmissions,” read the statement.

“A total of 4725 PCR tests were conducted and the positivity rate was at 17%. 738 new recoveries have been reported thus bringing the national recovery rate to 63.2%. There is a total of 9740 active cases.”

To date, Zimbabwe has now recorded 28 675 cases, 18 110 recoveries and 825 deaths.
