One more person succumbs to Covid-19 in Byo

Two people died while 27 more tested positive for the Coronavirus countrywide, latest figures show.

All the 27 new cases are local transmissions.

Bulawayo recorded one fatality and the highest number of new infections at 11.

Midlands was second in line with seven new cases, Mashonaland East had 3, Matabeleland South and Masvingo with two each while Mashonaland Central and Manicaland recorded one each.

A statement released by the Ministry of Health and Child Care on Friday shows that Bulawayo now has 1702 cases, out of which 1560 have recovered.

A total of 62 people have succumbed to the virus while 80 cases are still active.

“27 new cases and 2 deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours. All the new infections are local transmissions. A total of 756 PCR tests were conducted,” read the statement.

“The two deaths recorded are from Bulawayo and Mashonaland East. A total of 8 recoveries were recorded country wide bringing the recovery rate to 94.2%. The country currently has 238 active cases.”

According to the statistics, Zimbabwe now has a total of 8471 cases, 7983 recoveries and 250 deaths.
