Zimbabwean deported for using fake permit to get SA lucrative job

By Liz Dlodlo

South Africa last week deported a Zimbabwean man for flouting immigration laws in that country.

The man, Zivanai Katikiti had been employed as a Financial Control and Reporting manager at the Rand West City Municipality under Gauteng province.

The Department of Home Affairs (DHA) accuses the man of gaining a lucrative job in that country on the strength of a fake work permit.

In a media statement, the department said Katikiti was sent home by road on Wednesday last week via Beitbridge Port of Entry.

“He was arrested on 3 September for contravening immigration laws in several respects. He appeared in court on the following day and remained in custody until the confirmation of his deportation in court on Tuesday, 8 September,” said DHA.

The statement said according to records, Mr Katikiti entered South Africa in May 2015 and had not applied for work or residence permit.

Katikiti has since been declared a prohibited person (immigrant) after he was found in possession of a fraudulent permit and other related documents.
