Zim Covid-19 cases exceed 8000

Zimbabwe’s Covid-19 cases have now exceeded 8 000 after 17 new local cases were recorded in the past week.

According to the Ministry of Health and Child Care, as at October 11, 2020, Zimbabwe now has 8 011 confirmed cases, including 6 505 recoveries and 230 deaths.

Covid-19 cases jumped to over 8 000 nationally after October 9, 2020, when the country had 7 994 confirmed cases, of which 16 new cases were recorded to take the number to 8 010 as at October 10, 2020.

The latest update says one local case was recorded Sunday from 597 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests conducted on the day to take the national total of Covid-19 cases to 8 011.

No deaths were recorded in the last 24 hours while Zimbabwe’s recovery rate still stands high at 81 percent.

“12 new recoveries were reported and active cases (from total 8 011) go down to 1 277 today,” said the ministry of health.
