The fourth edition of the SuccessTalkWithNoma project took place in Bulawayo, solidifying its reputation as a beacon for women and youth entrepreneurs. The event offered both inspiration and practical skills for success, while fostering resilience and a strong sense of community empowerment.
The ‘Becoming Successful’ event took place on Friday and drew attendees from a variety of backgrounds, including Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and even schoolchildren, keen to hone their entrepreneurial skills.
Founded by Nomalanga Ncube, the initiative is a women’s empowerment organisation focused on advocating for the growth and success of entrepreneurs.
In an interview with CITE, Ncube described the theme, “Becoming Successful,” as a holistic approach to personal and professional development, covering topics such as a healthy spirit, body, mind, money, business and content creation.
“The goal is to encourage attendees to not only thrive in their businesses but also in all aspects of life. This ‘Becoming Successful’ event is an annual gathering aimed at encouraging people and their businesses to thrive comprehensively. It’s about learning, networking, empowering individuals to overcome the challenges of abuse and neglect, while achieving personal and professional success,” Ncube explained.
Ncube traced the initiative’s roots back to April 2017, when the first Success Talk event was held in Mpopoma, which she co-founded with three other driven women – Patricia Tshabalala, Sibhekinkosi Sigola and Ntombizodwa Khumalo.
She highlighted how this initiative has transformed her participants and proudly mentioned Khumalo, who has since become an elected Councillor in the Bulawayo City Council, as one example of the success that has emerged from the initiative.
“Our events are designed for both established entrepreneurs and aspiring business minds. Today’s gathering aims to inspire attendees and provide them with the tools they need to grow their businesses and become empowered. Empowerment is key to breaking cycles of financial abuse,” Ncube emphasized.
The event’s journey has seen notable venues over the years, from its debut at Hope City in 2020 to previous gatherings at Hillside Dams, Impala Lodge, Euphoria Gardens, and now Penuquilla Gardens.
Ncube shared her passion for coaching and supporting others on their path to success, highlighting her commitment to organizing events that connect people eager to flourish.
“I truly enjoy organising events and connecting with people who are eager to grow. My goal is to coach individuals in business to not only make a living but to achieve financial independence,” she stated.
Throughout the event, participants engaged in workshops and discussions designed to equip them with strategies for financial empowerment and sustainable business practices.
Ncube expressed her hope that the lessons learned would ripple out, reaching not just the attendees but their communities as well.
“I have faith that everyone here will leave with valuable skills that they can use and share. By doing so, we can create a ripple effect of empowerment and success in our communities,” Ncube concluded.
