President Emmerson Mnangagwa has confirmed that his deputy Constantino Chiwenga has tied the knot with his partner Colonel Miniyothabo Baloyi.
Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Misheck Sibanda confirmed the development in a statement but did not state when the marriage was solemnised.
“His Excellency the President Dr. E. D Mngangagwa wishes to inform the Nation that Honourable Vice President (RETD) Dr. CDGN Chiwenga, has tied the knot with his partner, Colonel Miniyothabo Baloyi.
Col. Baloyi is a serving Officer in the Zimbabwe National Army, ZNA. The president, the First Lady, Amai Auxillia Mnangagwa (Dr), and the first Family wish the couple a lifelong partnership full of love and affection,” said Sibanda.
Earlier this month, local media reported that Chiwenga had settled down with Baloyi after an acrimonious divorce with former model Marry Mubaiwa.
This was after a video had been leaked showing Chiwenga being interviewed by a Zimbabwe Statistical Agency enumerator for the national census.
In the video clip, the VP — who doubles as Health and Child Care minister – was heard informing the enumerator that he was currently staying with Baloyi, referring to her as his spouse.
