Organisers of the Econet Victoria Falls marathon have announced that participants to this year`s edition will be required to pay their fees in foreign currency.
The premier sport event will be held on June 5, 2020, in the resort town.
In the latest news update, the organisers announced that the local participants will be required to pay US$15 per person for the 42.2 kilometer marathon.
Zimbabweans based in neighbouring countries and citizens of other African countries will be required to fork out US$30.
International participants, on the other hand, will have to part with US$60.
For the fun run which has a minimum age of 10, participants will be required to pay US$5 while Steward Bank relay fee is pegged at US$25 per team of two.
However, Econet spokesperson Fungai Mandiveyi said he was not yet aware of the payment arrangement for locals.
“I will consult with the marketing team on how locals shall pay. Maybe they will be told to pay in hard cash, or using an equivalent rate. I will seek clarification and revert back.”
The last year’s event saw a total of 3 518 from 43 countries taking part with 2 657 drawn from Zimbabwe.
