President Emmerson Mnangagwa has appointed two of his relatives as deputy ministers in his new cabinet, which was announced on Monday.
He made the announcement at State House flanked by his two vice presidents Constantino Chiwenga and Kembo Mohadi.
David Mnangagwa, who is the president’s son will deputise Professor Mthuli Ncube who was re-appointed minister of Finance and Economic Development, while Tongai Mnangagwa, the president’s nephew will deputise Barbara Rwodzi in the Ministry of Tourism.
Prof Ncube lost in Cowdray Park Constituency while curiously David Mnangagwa came in via the youth quota seat.
Vice President Constantino Chiwenga relinquished his post as health minister with Dr Douglas Mombeshora being appointed to head the ministry.
There were also movements in other ministries with former Information minister Monica Mutsvangwa moving to the Women’s Affairs, Community and SMEs ministry.
Sithembiso Nyoni who previously headed the Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprise ministry was moved to take charge of the Industry ministry.
Jenfan Muswere previously the ICTs minister take over the information portfolio with
Tatenda Mavetera taking over his previous post. Dingumuzi Phuthi was retained as the deputy.
Professor Amon Murwira retains his position as minister of Higher Education, Innovation, Science and Technology Development Science and Technology Development, who will be deputised by Simelisizwe Sibanda.
Minister of Primary and Secondary Education will be Torerai Moyo and his deputy will be Angeline Gata.
Minister of Public Service is now July Moyo, and his deputy is Mercy Dinha.
Winston Chitando previously the mines minister will now head the local government ministry.
Kirsty Coventry was not moved from the Ministry of Sports, Recreation, Arts and Culture with President Mnangagwa defending her when quizzed by a journalist on his reappointment.
Oppah Muchinguri has been reappointed as minister of Defence and Security while Christopher Mtsvangwa has been named the minister of War Veterans Affairs.
Minister of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs remains Ziyambi Ziyambi who will be deputised by Obert Mazungunye, while Frederick Shava has been appointed the minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade.
Tino Machakaire will be the Minister of Youth Empowerment and Development.
Minister Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development is Dr Anxious Masuka and he will be deputised by Vangelis Haritatos and Davis Marapira.
Minister of State for Provincial Affairs in the Office of the President and Cabinet is Lovemore Matuke while the minister in charge of Skills Audit and Development is Professor Paul Mavima.
Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development remains Felix Mhona.
Edgar Moyo who was previously the deputy minister of primary and secondary education was handed the Energy and Power Development Edgar Moyo portfolio.
Daniel Garwe retained the National Housing and Social Amenities ministry and he will deputised by Yeukai Simbanegavi.
Minister of ICT is Tatenda Mavetera and the minister of Mines and Mining Development will be Zhemu Soda.
