August 1inquiry report to be released next week

President Emmerson Mnangagwa will next week release the report into the August 1 shooting where 6 demonstrators were allegedly fatally shot by soldiers.

The demonstrators had taken to the streets protesting delays by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission from announcing results to the July 30 elections.

The army was called in to quell the demos resulting in the fatal shooting of six people.

Mnangagwa told delegates to the Zanu PF conference In Esigodini that he would share the report with the public as promised.

“I want to let you know that I have received the report into the August 1 violence and I will make it public next week,” said Mnangagwa.

After the August 1 shooting, Mnangagwa appointed a commission headed by former South African President Kgalema Mothlante to investigate the matter.

Mnangagwa repeated his stance against the Government of National Unity saying his party won the majority vote.
