Bulawayo records more Covid-19 deaths

Bulawayo recorded the highest number of Covid-19 deaths this week, with three of the fatalities recorded on Thursday, statistics from the Health ministry show.

The other death was recorded on Monday.

Zimbabwe has now lost 1 592 people to the virus.

Other Provinces which recorded deaths this week are Harare and Manicaland each recording one case each. 

“Thirty-five new cases (all local) and three deaths reported in the last 24 hours (7 day rolling average for new cases rises to 31 today from 30 yesterday,” said the Ministry in its latest report.

2 159 Covid-19 tests were done with the positivity rate 1.7 percent. 

The Health ministry added that active cases went up to 721. 

“Ten new recoveries reported: National recovery rate stands at 94percent and active cases go up to 721 today,” said the report. 

“As of 27 May 2021, Zimbabwe has recorded 38 854 cases, 36 541 recoveries and 1 592 deaths.” 

According to the report over 900 000 people have been vaccinated country wide. 

“Vaccination update: 4 590 received their 1st dose today bringing cumulative for 1st dose to 648 121 while 11 759 received their 2nd dose bringing cumulative for 2nd dose to 305 268 (as at 1600hrs,” they said.
