City of Byo mourns passing of Alderman Ncube

The Bulawayo City Council (BCC) has mourned the passing on of Alderman Ephraim Ncube who served as a Councillor for 10 years.

Ald Ncube who served as Councillor for Ward 17 from 2008 to 2018 passed on on Wednesday.

In his condolence message, the mayor Councillor Solomon Mguni said Ald Ncube was a dedicated son of the city.

“His death has left a void which the City will not be able to fill for many years to come,” said Mguni.

Ald Ncube served as Councillor for Ward 17 from 2008 to 2018 (comprising of – Pumula North, Hyde Park Villages and Hyde Park) having been sworn in on the 2nd April 2008 and reelected and sworn in on the 16th of September 2013 for the 2013 to 2018 Council.

During his term of office, he served in the following Council Committees; Finance and Development Committee (2008 – 2013) (2013 – 2018), Town Lands and Planning Committee (2008 – 2013) (2013- 2018), Environmental Management and Engineering Services Committee (2008 – 2013) and as Deputy Chairperson for the Allocation of Stands and Premises for Development (2008 – 2013).

“He represented the City of Bulawayo as an alternate member in various outside bodies and Committees which included the ZESA Western Area Advisory Committee (2008/2009), Local Authorities Pension Fund Board of Trustees (2008/ 2009).

He was elevated to the dignity of Alderman on the 14th May 2018.

“His Worship Solomon Mguni, the Mayor, Aldermen, Councillors of the City of Bulawayo, Town Clerk, Mr Christopher Dube, Heads of Council Departments, Staff and residents wish to convey our profound condolences to the Ncube family,” said Mguni.

A special council meeting will be held in his honour in the Council Chamber, City Hall Municipal Building on Monday for Councillors, Aldermen, Former Mayors and Freemen before departing for Amphitheatre where a funeral service will be held before burial at Lady Stanley Cemetery on the same day.
