ANC’s Mbalula faces criticism for Zanu PF endorsement

The Mthwakazi Republic Party (MRP) has criticised Fikile Mbalula, Secretary General of South Africa’s ruling party, the African National Congress (ANC), for his endorsement of Zanu PF and statements that the ANC had a close relationship with Zanu PF.

MRP leader, Mqondisi Moyo, said it was “disheartening” to see Mbalula misleading the world through misinformation about the ANC’s relationship with Zanu PF.

“It’s either Fikile Mbalula is not an original ANC member, or he is choosing to misrepresent facts so as to sanitise Zanu PF,” said Moyo, who was responding to Mbalula’s post-election declaration of support for Zanu PF and Emmerson Mnangagwa, despite concerns that the Zimbabwean election was rigged.

Mbalula, according to the MRP leader, needed to be educated on Zimbabwe’s history and how the ANC collaborated with ZAPU to achieve independence for both southern African countries.

“Fikile Mbalula must be lectured that ANC of the past, not this current tainted one, never worked with Zanu PF during apartheid and liberation struggle. They, instead, worked with ZAPU together with its military wing ZPRA. The ANC had its military wing UMkhonto WeSizwe ( MK),” he said.

“Zanu, on the other hand, worked and connived with PAC and the white minority government in South Africa. Mbalula doesn’t know his political party ANC and its allies yet is the Secretary-General.”

Moyo argued that the ANC’s praise of Zanu PF was a betrayal of history because the party tried to derail South Africa’s freedom.

“It seems Mbalula doesn’t know that the independence of South Africa was derailed by Zanu PF,” said Moyo. “That was after Zimbabwe had successfully attained its so-called Independence which Britain handed on a silver plate through the then British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in 1980.”

Moyo said that as soon as Zimbabwe had achieved its independence, the post-independent government committed a genocide against the Ndebele people.

“In 1981, the then Minister of State Security, who is the current President of Zimbabwe Emmerson Mnangagwa, paid a hotel bill of $12,983, whose value was at par with the British pound. This hotel bill was for the upkeep of the 106 North Korean military instructors who trained over 5,000 Fifth Brigade militia who were to exterminate Mthwakazi people.”

Moyo believes that 40,000 innocent Ndebele people were killed during the genocide.

“Operation Gukurahundi was created by the Zanu government that accused Joshua Nkomo of wanting to topple an elected government then led by Robert Mugabe, a party which Mbalula claims they are bedfellows,” he stated.

Moyo also criticised the ANC for its close relationship with Zanu PF in recent years.

“Zanu confiscated UMkhonto WeSizwe military weapons that were kept and used by ZPRA and ZAPU in Zimbabwe. Zanu also killed and arrested many UMkhonto WeSizwe cadres. This was done in agreement with the Apartheid government in South Africa,” said Moyo.

Moyo warned that if the ANC does not reform, South Africa could become like Zimbabwe economically.

“Already SA has started to experience water shortages, electricity shortages, and in other parts of the country, potholes on roads like Zimbabwe,” said Moyo.

“The cost of living is now high in SA because of ANC’s comradeship with Zanu PF. We know that Zanu PF is now the chief advisor to the ANC. Actually, the ANC has turned out to be a dictator and irresponsible government against its people.”

ZAPU, which has historical ties with the ANC, has also rebuked the current party leadership.

“This ANC is a disgrace! Or have a mampara as its SG. He of all people should understand that public rallies where people are given food and groceries doesn’t translate to ‘support on the ground.’ So, if there’s a dispute in Zimbabwe, how will ANC arbitrate?” the party said on its Twitter account.
