Police in Bulawayo are investigating a case of stock theft after seven cattle were found slaughtered in a bushy area near Mpofu Plot E2, Umguza, on Tuesday night.

According to Acting Bulawayo Police Spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele, a 24-year-old man from Lavendale was walking from Woolendale to Lavendale at around 10 PM when he came across the carcasses.

โ€œAfter alerting his neighbours, they contacted the police, who attended the scene and observed that an unknown suspect had used an unidentified object to strike and kill the cattle. The carcasses were left scattered at the site after the perpetrator was apparently disturbed by passers-by,โ€ said Assistant Inspector Msebele.

She added that one cow was still alive but severely injured and unable to walk.

โ€œThe police are working to locate the owners of the cattle and are appealing for any information that could lead to the suspectโ€™s arrest or help identify the owners,โ€ she said.

Residents of Woolendale and surrounding areas have been urged to visit ZRP Nkulumane and report to the officer in charge if they have any relevant information.
