Satellite clinic for Emganwini: Masuku’s last hurrah
Outgoing Nketa Member of Parliament, Phelela Masuku, has said he is a happy man after completing a milestone project of building a satellite clinic in Emganwini suburb.
The clinic will be offering antenatal and baby clinic services at first but will soon provide a wider range of services.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony of the clinic, Masuku said the project was a product of Community Development Funds (CDF) from the government.
“I am happy that as I make way for the next MP, I have completed a project that will benefit the whole community. No one will accuse me of squandering government funds meant to develop communities. We have done quite a number of different projects in the two terms I was in office, but this one has been the greatest. I am quite proud,” Masuku said.
“This project would not have been a success without the help of the councillors and various committees, fellow members of parliament and the residents at large. It’s been an amazing journey for us all and everyone who was involved worked very hard to get us to the end of this project.”
Mayor of Bulawayo, Cllr Solomon Mguni, hailed Masuku for the work he has done, noting that he has left a huge legacy with the work he has done.
“It is rare that we have MPs who do work of such magnitude which compliments the council. Thank you for being exemplary. You have created your own legacy. Even as you leave your office after running for two terms, you will forever remain a great leader to your people,” he said.
“We hope that the next person who will come into office will continue from where you left. It is important for MPs to work together with the council and residents. We hope that there will be a continuation of such complementary work so that the CDF funds can be used to benefit the community at large.”
