Residents question outgoing MP Dingilizwe Tshuma’s development record
Entumbane and Njube residents have questioned the development record of outgoing Member of Parliament Dingilizwe Tshuma, who is seeking a third term in office.
Tshuma is set to battle for the seat against Prince Dube of the Citizens’ Coalition for Change (CCC) and Linda Chinamano of the ruling ZANU-PF party.
During an election debate series held in the constituency, a participant Khethiwe Tshuma asked the aspiring candidate on what is pushing him to seek a third term in parliament.
“You spoke about the projects that you have been doing in the community, but I have been working with you on development issues that you have been saying, I am not satisfied with what you have told the people here,” said Tshuma.
She cited the example of Entumbane High School, where Tshuma said he had provided 10,000 bricks and 45 bags of cement to help with the construction of a precast wall. However, Tshuma said the wall is still not complete.
Tshuma also questioned the aspiring candidate’s claims about the community gardens.
She also accused Tshuma of failing to account for the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), which is a government fund that is allocated to each constituency for development projects.
“Accountability of CDF money, how often have you reported back to the community members with your audited financial reports of CDF money?” she asked. “Are the community members satisfied with your work with CDF money?”
Tshuma responded by accusing Khethiwe Tshuma of being power-hungry. He said she was a council candidate who had lost to him in the past.
He also defended his record on development, saying that he had built a satellite library and drilled two boreholes in the community.
