Remembering ZPRA fallen heroes

The following is a list of ZPRA fighters who died during the liberation war compiled by Mafela Trust.

DUMANE TUSI: Died in 1978/79 during a battle with Rhodesian forces at Ngwisiwa Village, Tsholotsho. He was buried in Sunduzwayo, under Headman Nkunzi, at Ngwisiwa. Home details are not yet known.

-DUBE: Died in 1978 during combat with Rhodesians in the Nyagara area, Dete. His body was taken by the enemy. He operated in the Dete area. Home details are not yet known.

-DUBE MPISI LYTON: Died in September 1979 at Masuwe, Victoria Falls, in a battle with Rhodesian forces. He was a detachment commander who had crossed into the country earlier that month. Fourteen enemy soldiers were killed in the battle. His body was taken by the enemy. Home details are not yet known.

–DAILY: died 1979 in Kazangarare in battle with Rhodesians. Buried in the area. Home details not known.

–DAVID: died 1978 in Lupane district in battle with Rhodesians, Grave location and home details not known.

–DENNIS: killed with four of his comrades at Mhuru’s kraal Namunde, Mberengwa, 1979 when his was unit attacked by Rhodesian air and ground forces. Buried in a mass grave in Namande. Operated in Mberengwa district. Home details not yet known.

–DRY GIN: died 1977 in the operational area in battle with Rhodesians. Came from Mtshabezi School, Buvuma, Gwanda.

–DENNY: died 1979 in Vic Falls in battle with Rhodesians. The body was taken by the enemy. Home details not yet known.

–DENNY: died 1978 in Sipolilo in battle with Rhodesians. Body buried in the area. Home details not yet known.
– DOCTOR: died 1979 at Chitsungo, Sipolilo, when his unit made contact with Auxiliary unit of Rhodesian forces. Buried in the area. He was in the unit of the Wild Cat detachment which operated in Chitsungo area. Home details not yet known.

–DLAMINI: died 1978 at Makethe School, Lupane, after wearing poisoned clothes. Home details not yet known.

DLODLO LOVEMORE: died 1978 in Zambia during the liberation war. No other details available. He came from Mapate area, Gwanda. Buried in Zambia.

–DLODLO: died 1978 in battle with Rhodesians in Wumpani, Nkayi. The body was taken by the enemy to Nkayi Centre. Home details are not yet known.

DLODLO: died 1979 in Lower Gweru Mission area in battle with Rhodesians, Buried in the area. Home details not yet known.

–DRY GIN: died 1978 in Dendera area, Zhombe, after drinking poisoned soft drinks given to him by a local shop owner. Buried in the area. Home details not yet known.

DLAMINI LUKA: died 1979 Copper Queen, Karoi, in battle with the Rhodesians. Buried in the area. Home details not yet known.

DUBE B: died 1968 in Sipolilo in battle with Rhodesians which lasted 8-9 hours. Was in a combined unit of ZAPU-ANC guerrillas. Buried in the area. Home de tails not yet known.

DUBE ANDREAS: died 1976 in Mozambique. No other details available. Came from Mashumba Village 4, Kezi. Buried in Mozambique.

–DUBE BERNAD: died 1978 at Freedom Camp, Zambia, during Rhodesian air raid. Buried in a mass grave at Freedom Camp. Came from Mashumba Village 4, Kezi.

–DUBE BELTER: died 1978 at Freedom Camp, Zambia in Rhodesian air raid. Buried in a mass grave at Freedom Camp. Came from Mashumba Village 4, Kezi.

–DUBE RITA: died 1978 at Mkushi Camp, Zambia, in Rhodesia air raid. Buried in a mass grave at Mkushi, came from Chief Bidi area, Kezi.

–DUBE JEPHAT: died 1978 in Zambia during the liberation war. Buried in Zambia. Came from the Garanyemba area of Gwanda district.

–DUBE MLEFU (MOLLY): died 1976 in Lusetshe area, Hwange, in battle with Rhodesian air and ground forces. The enemy took the body to Hwange. Came from Plumtree district. Trained at Morogoro in 1969.

DUBE JANA JAMES: died at FC Zambia, in a Rhodesian air raid and buried there. Came from Chief Bidi’s area, Kezi.

–DUBE ELPEAS: died at Freedom Camp in Zambia, in a Rhodesian air raid and was buried in the camp. Came from Nkalange area, Gwanda.

-DUBE: died 1979 at Maboleni area, Lower Gweru, in battle with Rhodesians. Buried in the area. Home details not yet known.

–DUEE ALBERT: died 1978 at Freedom Camp, Zambia, in Rhodesian air raid. Buried at Freedom Camp. Came from Nhlamba area, Gwanda.

DUBE ALICE: died 1978 at Mukushi Camp in Zambia during a Rhodesian air and ground attack. Buried in Zambia. Received her military training at Mkushi. Home details are not yet known.
