A two-year-old girl has been abducted from a shopping mall in Bulawayo, police have said.
The child, named Asandra Ndhlovu, went missing on Tuesday morning at Meikles Mall in the city centre.
Police spokesperson Inspector Nomalanga Msebele said the girl’s mother, a 25-year-old woman from New Lobengula suburb, had been working inside the mall serving customers while her daughter played nearby.
After about 20 minutes, the mother realised the child was no longer there. CCTV footage from the mall showed an unknown man wearing a brown hooded jacket and blue work-suit trousers picking up the toddler and leaving the premises, Inspector Msebele said.
The man’s face was not visible in the footage.
The child was last seen wearing a pink jersey and blue jeans, without shoes.
A police report has been filed, and officers are appealing for information from the public.
Anyone with details is urged to contact the mother on 0718 333 182 or 0777 949 816, or Bulawayo Central Police Station on (029) 227 1515, or the nearest police station.
