Police officer drags ex wife to court

Patient Sibanda
A POLICE officer has dragged his ex-wife to court after she violated a protection order he was granted against her.
The court learnt that Laston Chivasa, (27), based at Ross Camp Bulawayo and Inviolata Zhou, (21), of Entumbane suburb, had a dispute at Ross Camp over the welfare of their child.
Zhou pleaded guilty to violating a protection order before Bulawayo magistrate Adelaide Mbeure.
Mbeure remanded Zhou out of custody until 6 June 2018.
Zhou told the court that she committed the offence out of anger and frustration due to the way Chivasa had treated her.
“He doesn’t support our child at all. He knows that I have no steady income, but he still neglects our child anyway. He impregnated me when I was 16, and it’s difficult for me to make ends meet especially considering that I also take care of my parents who are both visually impaired. He just left me and remarried a fellow police officer, ” she said.
She added: “He doesn’t support his child but supports children of his wife despite that the wife is also working as a police officer. Our child is not on medical aid, but the children of his current wife are. He failed to put our child under his medical aid when we were together.”
Prosecuting, Maclean Ndlovu told the court that on 20 May 2018 Zhou went to Chivas’s house and searched through his personal property.
“Accused went to complainant’s house and searched through his wardrobe where she took the complainant’s medical aid confirmation letter. She then sent him messages insulting him via WhatsApp messages. The accused failed to comply with the protection order as was stated by the court,” said Ndlovu.
