Inspector Ncube retires after 33 years of service

The Bulawayo community gathered Saturday afternoon to honour Inspector Abednico Ncube, the provincial police spokesperson, as he retired after 33 years of service.

Insp Ncube joined the police force in 1991 as a Constable and steadily rose through the ranks, serving in various capacities, including crime investigations, administration, and public relations, where he concluded his career.

The farewell ceremony brought together members of the Bulawayo business community, church leaders, civil society representatives, journalists, and police officers to celebrate his distinguished career.

Speaking at the event, National Police Spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi described Insp Ncube as a model officer who upheld the principles of dignity, integrity, and honor throughout his service.

โ€œI am proud to bid farewell to Insp Ncube today after his remarkable years in the police force. Maintaining a clean record in public office is no easy feat, but he achieved it effortlessly,โ€ said Commissioner Nyathi.

He commended Insp Ncubeโ€™s professionalism and reliability, noting that he often turned to him during sensitive situations requiring immediate attention. โ€œHis honesty and integrity not only made him a trusted colleague but also a close personal friend. I know he will now passionately pursue his calling to preaching, which is close to his heart,โ€ Commissioner Nyathi added.

He urged junior officers to emulate Insp Ncube’s exemplary conduct, cautioning them against corruption and other behaviors that could tarnish their reputations.

Representatives from Bulawayoโ€™s business community and church groups praised Insp Ncube as a principled and impartial individual who consistently stood for what was right.

Insp Ncube expressed heartfelt gratitude to all stakeholders who supported him during his tenure.

โ€œI am deeply thankful to my fellow police officers for their unwavering support, to the media for their role in disseminating information, to the business community for aiding the fight against crime, to churches for fostering peace, and to civil society for complementing our work in many ways,โ€ he said.

Reflecting on his career, Insp Ncube said he felt fulfilled and ready to embark on the next chapter of his life. Among his future endeavours, he plans to focus on empowering the boy child in Matabeleland and surrounding areas.
