Informal trader found dead in car

An informal trader was found dead in the back seat of his Honda fit vehicle on Wednesday morning.

The vehicle was parked along Jason Moyo between 4th and 5th Avenue.

The deceased who was identified by his workmates as Steven was said to be 43 years old.

When a CITE news crew arrived at the scene, the body had already been removed by the police, while the deceased’s wife and relatives drove the vehicle away.

Speaking to this publication, some of the visibly shocked and distraught traders who operate from the area said the vehicle had been parked at the scene for the past three days.

“We saw this vehicle parked here for the past three days but what is shocking is that under this vehicle it is clean showing it could have moved. He was discovered by his wife in the morning as he was said to be missing. They found him dead in the back seat of his vehicle,” said one vendor.

Another vendor said he last saw the deceased yesterday around 3 am.

“We sell alcohol together by the corner here, he came here yesterday around 3 am saying he left his wife who was in labour at Mpilo Hospital. Around 5 am he left going in the direction of where his vehicle was parked, that is the last time I saw him alive,” he said.

The police said they were still waiting for the report.
