โ€œThis is my first time here, and what I have seen is truly impressive. The government has recognised the significance of this programme, and we will make it one of the key priorities for Matabeleland North,โ€ he said.

He indicated that further discussions will take place with Chief Dakamela and his team to ensure the event continues to grow.

Moyo also assured attendees that next yearโ€™s Imiklomelo kaDakamela event would be greatly enhanced.

โ€œI am confident that by next year, you will see the improvements for yourselves. We donโ€™t just want to talk without action. Many things have been promised in the past and not delivered, but we want to be clear this year, so that when people return next year, they will see the tangible results we are talking about,โ€ Moyo added.

He called on all stakeholders and partners to collaborate in elevating the event and ensuring its long-term sustainability.

Deputy Minister of Local Government and Public Works, Albert Mavunga and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Sports, Recreation, Arts, and Culture, Nicholas Moyo.

Deputy Minister of Local Government and Public Works, Albert Mavunga, also praised Chief Dakamela for his leadership and commitment.

โ€œOur President, E.D. Mnangagwa, often reminds us that โ€˜ilizwe lakhiwa ngabanikazi baloโ€™ โ€” a nation is built by its citizens. What Iโ€™ve witnessed here today is clear evidence that this province is full of people who are ready to contribute to building their community. I commend the Chief for embodying that spirit,โ€ Mavunga said.

He added: โ€œThe President also speaks of leaving no one and no place behind. This event proves that this community will not be left behind, as the government, the President, and traditional leadership are all paying attention.โ€

Now in its third year, the awards recognise individuals and institutions โ€” both local and regional โ€” for their outstanding contributions to community development.
