Human remains were discovered yesterday morning along the Victoria Falls-Bulawayo railway line and in a field in Entumbane Bulawayo, prompting a police appeal for public assistance in identifying the deceased.

The grim discovery was first made by an 85-year-old female resident of Entumbane while she was digging her field in preparation for farming.

She uncovered human remains consisting of a skull, rib bones, and both upper and lower arm bones.

Deputy Press and Public Relations Officer for Bulawayo Province Assistant, Inspector Thandekile Ndlovu, confirmed the incident to CITE.

“Police confirm discovering human remains between Victoria Falls-Bulawayo railway line and at a  certain house in Entumbane,” she said.

The police report indicated that clothing found with the remains included a black T-shirt, a navy-blue work suit jacket with silver reflectors, and a red and navy-blue jacket.

“The clothes found were searched and found on one of the pockets was an identity card that belongs to Luckson Mhaka who was born on 14 June 1976 under Nhevera village in Zimuto, Masvingo,” said Assistant Inspector Ndlovu.

The remains have been transported to Mpilo Hospital.

Police are urging anyone with information to come forward.

“We appeal to members of the public who may be missing a relative whose description matches the recovered clothing or identity details to visit ZRP Entumbane or any nearest police station for identifications,” Assistant Inspector Ndlovu stated.
