Half naked man found dead in Emganwini
Police have launched an investigation after a man was found dead in Emganwini suburb on Monday morning.
The man believed to be in his 50s was found by a passerby who then alerted the police.
In a statement, Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident.
“On the 12th day of September 2022 at around 0645 hours, a 37-year-old male adult was accompanying his child to school driving along an unnamed road in Emganwini, Bulawayo. He came across a male adult lying unconsciously on the side of the road, facing upwards and half-dressed. He reported the matter to the police,” said Inspector Ncube.
He said the deceased was wearing a pair of brown trousers with an unbuckled belt and was not putting on anything on top.
“He was bleeding from a cut above right the right eye. He had nail bruises on the pelvic area,” said the police spokesperson.
He urged members of the public who have a missing relative to come up and identify the body of the deceased.
Such incidents have been on the increase in the suburb.
Ward 26 Bulawayo Residents Association (BURA) chairperson, Janana Ngwenya said there is a need for collective action to deal with rampant crime cases in the suburb.
“As residents, we need to take collective action against bottle stores and drinking spots operating outside given times, our community is no longer safe,” said Ngwenya.
