A 22-year-old student from Gwanda, Muziwandile Sibanda, is urgently seeking financial assistance to undergo life-saving surgery after being diagnosed with a tumour earlier this year.

He needs US$3,000 to complete the required treatment.

Sibanda, a former Gwanda High School student (2015-2020), had enrolled in army recruitment training with hopes of serving in the military.

However, his aspirations were cut short by his illness. His brother, Mbukisenezweni Sibanda, said the tumour was discovered in January 2025.

“We initially went to Harare for treatment and were told the procedure would cost US$10,000. So far, we have raised US$7,000, but we still need US$3,000 to cover the remaining costs,” he said.

With Muziwandile’s condition deteriorating, the family is preparing for a critical assessment at Kandara Mission.

“His health has worsened—he is struggling to eat and breathe,” his brother added.

Despite his condition, Muziwandile remains determined to pursue a career in diesel plant mechanics, a lifelong dream he hopes to achieve once he recovers.

“As a family, we are appealing to the community for any assistance that can help save his life,” said Mbukisenezweni Sibanda.

Those willing to assist can contact him at 0786 214 350.
