Good samaritans team up to rebuild house destroyed by fire
A good samaritan working with missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints have joined hands to assist a family in Bulawayo’s Queens Park East suburb whose house was destroyed by fire last month.
Trevor Nyamakawo (29) set his family home on fire following a dispute with his mother, Molly Nyamakawo, claiming he was the owner of the property.
The six roomed house was totally destroyed with the damage estimated at ZW$800 000.
In an Interview, Abraham Charumbira told CITE that they want to repair the house so that the family can move back in.
“I decided to help, so I approached the church since I am a member there and they gave me manpower so we can clear the rubble,” said Charumbira.
“We managed to clear up all the rubble from the house over the weekend, now the next stage is rebuilding of the house.”
Charumbira said they start with at least two rooms which the family can be using while they source more funds to repair the whole house.
Meanwhile, Molly Nyamakawo said they are currently staying with a relative.
“At the moment we are staying with a relative in Queens Park East. I am still coming to terms with this whole situation. Even now I am pained,” said Molly.
She said the community has been greatly assisting her with food, clothes, and blankets.
