Cyclist found dead on Robert Mugabe street

Passers-by discovered the body of a 57-year-old man on the streets of Bulawayo early Thursday morning, who appeared to have died while riding his bicycle, police have confirmed.

The deceased identified as Benjamin Muzokomba from Mzilikazi Suburb was discovered with blood on his nose on the ground by passers-by around 6 am along Third Avenue and Robert Mugabe outside Borwood Flats, who alerted the police.

Police are treating this case as a ‘sudden death’ and have since notified the man’s relatives.

In an interview with CITE, Bulawayo Provincial Police Spokesperson, Inspector Abednico Ncube, confirmed the incident.

“The man was found on the ground around 6 am in the morning. His bicycle was also there next to him. There were no injuries on his body except that blood was coming out from his nose,” he said.

“His bicycle was also intact as it was not damaged or hit by anything. This is why we are treating this as a sudden death.”

Inspector Ncube said the police officers who arrived on the scene made these determinations after inspecting the deceased’s body.

“When police attended the scene, they inspected the body and found no injuries on him besides the bleeding from the nose. We are still investigating but it seems like a sudden death,” he said.
