Twenty-seven more people have tested positive for Covid-19 in Bulawayo while one person succumbed to the pandemic, the latest update from the Ministry of Health and Child Care has shown.
This comes after the city which has become the epicentre of the global pandemic, recorded a shocking 231 new cases and three deaths on Thursday.
This takes the city`s overall tally to 446 and 11 deaths.
The 27 new cases are part of the 58 new cases recorded nationally, 48 being local transmissions and 10 imported cases from South Africa.
โThirty-two of the local cases are contacts of known confirmed cases. Investigations are underway to establish the source of infection for the other 16 cases,โ the Health Ministry said.
The latest fatality is that of a 19-year-old man who succumbed to the virus at a local health facility.
โToday we regret to report 1 death at facility level in Bulawayo province. The death is a 19-year-old male who tested positive for Covid-19 today and had co-morbidities,โ read the update.
Thirteen recoveries were reported in Matabeleland North (3), (Mashonaland Central (6), Mashonaland East (2), and Manicaland (2).
Zimbabwe now has 1420 confirmed cases and 24 deaths.
