Covid-19 claims 28 more lives

Twenty-eight more people succumbed to Covid-19 while 1 949ย new cases were recorded in the last 24 hours.

This brings to a cumulative 57 963 cases and 1 939 deaths in the country

The highest new cases were recorded in  Mashonaland West with 353 cases.

Harare recorded 226 new cases followed by Mashonaland East which recorded  208 new cases while Midlands recorded 200 new cases.

Mashonaland Central recorded 198 new cases, Manicaland recorded 184 cases, Matabeleland South recorded 165 new cases, Bulawayo recorded 158 new cases, Masvingo recorded 143 cases, while Matabeleland North recorded 115 new cases. 

โ€œ1 949 new cases (all local) and 28 deaths reported today. (7 day rolling average* for new cases rises to 1 347 today from 1 247yesterday),โ€ said the Ministry of Health and Child Care.

The deaths were recorded in Harare (11), Mashonaland West (8), Bulawayo (3), Midlands and Masvingo both recorded two deaths each while Manicaland and Mashonaland Central reported one death each.

On the vaccination campaign, the ministry reported 9 918 received their 1st dose yesterday; bringing the cumulative figures for 1st dose to 807 633 while 3 213 received their second dose bringing cumulative figures for the second dose to 574 934.

โ€œAs of 05 July 2021at 1500hours there were 487 hospitalized cases, new admissions 95, asymptomatic 54, mild to moderate 356, severe 54 and 23 in Intensive Care Unit,โ€ said the Ministry.

 โ€œ218 new recoveries: National recovery rate stands at 72 percent and active cases go up to 14 400. As of July 2021, Zimbabwe  has recorded 57 963cases, 41 624 recoveries and 1 939 deaths.โ€
