Cont Mhlanga’s widow Thembi Ngwabi dies

Thembi Ngwabi, the widow of the late arts guru Cont Mhlanga, has passed away.

She was 52 years old.

Ngwabi passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at Thorngrove Hospital.

The family representative Stix Mhlanga said, “She was unwell for a long time, even before Cont passed away, she was not well and she never recovered after the death of her husband, she was on and off.”

Mhlanga said the family is still deliberating on the funeral arrangements.

An accomplished dancer, actress and bass guitarist, She directed stage plays and films, played in a famous all-women band and trained hundreds of youths at Amakhosi Arts Academy.

She also starred alongside Holywood actors, Denzil Washington in Cry Freedom and Morgan Freeman in World Apart.
