City of Bulawayo mourns Khupe

The City of Bulawayo led by Mayor, Councillor Solomon Mguni, has mourned the passing of Knowledge Khupe, a CITE staffer who died on Wednesday.

Khupe, 27, was a videographer and photographer at CITE, had been hospitalised after a short illness.

In a condolence message released on Thursday, the mayor said Khupe’s death is a loss to the media industry.

“Knowledge has been working with the city of Bulawayo as a videographer for the live streaming of the full council meetings since the first city’s live stream and has been instrumental in making sure that our full council meetings and events are live streamed to the various members of the public,” said Cllr Mguni.

“The city mourns the loss of such a young life and our greatest sympathy goes to the Khupe family, friends and colleagues.”

CITE director Zenzele Ndebele also described Khupe as a dedicated worker with fine workmanship and talent.

“It will be tough, moving on without Khupe in our team. He was innovative and adept at adopting new trends that we often experimented with at CITE. Losing a coworker is painful, especially when he has become part of the family,” he said.

“From Team CITE, we say, ‘Go well and rest in peace Khupe.’ We will miss your humility, respect and of course the jokes.”
