Bulawayo City Council and Tearracotta Private Limited has advised residents not to adhere to the hoax messages circulating on social media pertaining employment for the Egodini Mall project. The messages circulating state the availability of employment at the Egodini Mall.
In a press statement, Town Clerk Christopher Dube said residents and stakeholders should disregard the false messages circulating as the project has not contracted any institution to employ on its behalf.
“We would like to further advise that employment for Egodini Mall project will only be done after site office establishment at the Site on Basch Street,” said Dube.
He further added residents and stakeholders to contact the police if they came across anyone purporting to be employing on behalf of the project developer or the City Council.
The press statement also stated residents will be advised when the project is employing.
In 2015, the BCC awarded South African civil engineering firm, Terracotta, the contract to develop a transport hub and shopping mall at Egodini. The project is on a build, operate and transfer basis and will come at no cost to the council As part of the redesign of the terminus area, BCC would expand existing roads into the site and create dedicated pedestrian routes to increase traffic access.
The site will include a transport hub located on the Basch Street ground level, retail sections and visitor parking bays.
