Byo records another Covid-19 death

Bulawayo has recorded one new Covid-19 related death, bringing the total number of people who have succumbed to the pandemic in the city to 30.

The province also recorded 9 new cases, which resulted in the total number of cases rising to 1269. 

Zimbabwe to date has recorded 6292 cases, 5010 recoveries and 189 deaths.

According to latest statistics from the Ministry of Health and Child Care, Zimbabwe yesterday recorded 41 new cases, 38 being local transmissions and three are returnees from South Africa. 

“41 New Cases and 10 Deaths reported in the last 24 hours (No new cases reported in Harare again -second successive day without new cases in Harare) 38 are local cases and 3 are returnees from SA,” read the statement. 

“Active cases go up to 1093 today 7 deaths are from Harare, 1 from Bulawayo, Mash Cent (1) and Midlands (1) 9 total new recoveries reported: National Recovery rate stands at 79.6%.”

Harare is leading with the highest number of deaths countrywide with 110, seven of which occurred on Thursday. 

The latest released statistics show that Mashonaland West had the highest number of new infections with 17 out of 41.

Manicaland recorded nine recoveries yesterday. 

In a bid to curb the spread of the pandemic, the country is still under lockdown where businesses are restricted to closing at 4:30 PM and a curfew is being enforced between 8 PM and 5 AM.
