Byo records 13 new Covid-19 cases

Bulawayo yesterday recorded the highest number of new Covid-19 cases after 13 people tested positive for the respiratory disease. 

According to the latest statistics released by the health ministry, 20 people tested positive nationwide in the past 24 hours and while no deaths were recorded. 

Of the total cases, 17 are local transmissions while three are returnees from South Africa. 

Four more cases were recorded in Manicaland while three were detected in Masvingo. 

Bulawayo to date has a total of 1534 cases, second to Harare which has the highest number of infections at 3286.

Out of the 29 people recorded to have recovered from the pandemic yesterday, only four were from Bulawayo. 

“20 new cases and no deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours. 818 PCR tests were conducted and positivity rate stood at 2.4%. 17 of the infections are local cases while 3 are returnees from SA,” read the statement. 

“29 new recoveries reported. National recovery rate stands at 95% and active cases go down to 175 today.”

Currently, Zimbabwe has recorded a total of 8075 cases, 7669 recoveries and 231 deaths.
