Byo man arrested for raping juvenile
Police in Bulawayo have arrested a 32-year- old man on allegations of raping a 15-year-old juvenile who had been left in his care.
The incident took place on January 10 at around 0700 hours at Hideout compound in Queens Park.
In a statement, Bulawayo provincial spokesperson, Inspector Abednico Ncube said the accused was left with the victim at home while his wife went out.
“On the 10th of January 2021 at around 0700hours, the informant left home going to Queens Park leaving her husband who is now the accused and the complainant at home. The accused person then ordered the complainant to clean the house,” said Inspector Ncube.
“During the process the accused person tied up the complainant’s hands using an electrical cable and lifted her to his bedroom where he raped her once without protection”.
After the incident, the suspect then untied the victim and ordered her to go home where she narrated the matter to her grandmother who the informed the victim’s aunt.
“The informant escorted the complainant to ZRP Sauers Town and reported the case on the 13th of January 2021 at around 1500 hours. Scene was attended and the accused person arrested and taken to ZRP Sauerstown where he is detailed,” said Inspector Ncube.
He said the complainant was referred to United Bulawayo Hospital (UBH) for medical examination and investigations are in progress.
“We appeal to members of the public not to leave their female juvenile with male relatives who may not value the level of degree of consanguinity,” said Inspector Ncube.
