Burst pipe affects Byo water supplies
The water situation in Bulawayo is likely to worsen following a pipe burst on the mainline from Ncema, Esigodini to Criterion waterworks.
In a statement, Friday, Acting Town Clerk Sikhangele Zhou advised that the pipe burst has affected the pumping of raw water and water treatement at Criterion.
“The stoppage in treatment affects the city supply reservoirs that are fed from Criterion Water works,” she said.
“Bulawayo City Council would like to advise that all areas that benefit from these reservoirs (Criterion, Magwegwe, Hillside and Rifle Range) will remain closed for water supplies till repairs have been completed and the affected reservoirs raised to satisfactory levels.”
Meanwhile, the city`s six supply dams are currently sitting at 43.89 percent capacity.
