PEACE building organization, Heal Zimbabwe has commended enthusiasm shown by voters and aspiring political candidates to uphold this year’s elections in peace.

Speaking to CITE at a #GoZim campaign held in Cowdray park on Saturday, Heal Zimbabwe Programs Manager Sithabile Dewa said the organisation together with several others has managed to harvest about 4000 peace pledges towards the July 30 harmonised elections.

The edu-tainment program was graced by skyz metro radio personalities, aspiring political candidates as well as stakeholders from various organizations.

“HealZim is working with such organisations as BUPRA, NYTD, Emthonjeni Women’s Forum, WILD, Christian Alliance to reach out to the people to help ensure these elections are carried out peacefully. The #GoZim campaign is there to ensure that people are well equipped with the relevant and necessary voter-education information that they need ahead of the elections. We are trying to protect them from being intimidated and harassed while they exercise their right to vote,” she said.

Dewa added: “We are even happier that most of the crowd we are reaching out to is that of the youth. They are showing such great anticipation and have a vast understanding of how the elections will be carried out. The artists that have been performing appeal mostly to their age group and they have been giving out information too in the midst of their performances. The manner in which the youths have shown appreciation of the need to vote ensures that this year’s elections will be better than any other held before.”

She said this show was the fourth to be held around the country and each time crowd sizes kept swelling.

Dewa emphasised that voting is a special secretive way of expressing oneself through the ballot and the organisation will continue to hammer on the message until election time.

Artists who kept the crowds entertained on the day included Bleckhit, Iyasa, Seh Calez, Jah Signal and Madlela Skhobokhobo.
