Bulawayo police nab suspects with 19 stolen cattle
Two men from Emganwini suburb in Bulawayo have been arrested after they were caught red-handed transporting 19 stolen cattle.
Edmore Bhibhi (46) and Farai Pambukani (28) were intercepted near the Esigodini/Llewellyn area, heading towards Bulawayo.
Bulawayo Police spokesperson, Inspector Abednico Ncube, confirmed the incident.
Insp. Ncube said the two men were spotted by a member of the public, who then called the police at Bulawayo Central Police Station and alerted them of the incident.
“Police in Bulawayo have arrested Edmore Bhibhi and Farai Pambukani from Emganwini suburb in Bulawayo for stock theft. The two men were intercepted near the Esigodini/Llewellyn area driving a motor vehicle loaded with 19 cattle,” Insp. Ncube said.
“This was after they were spotted in the Insiza area by an informant, who tried to stop them but they sped off driving towards Bulawayo. The informant then followed them, while calling police officers until he got in touch with police at Bulawayo Central. This led to the arrest of the accused persons.”
Insp. Ncube said that of the total herd, 13 were cows and six were oxen, however, two of the cattle had died.
“They did not have any papers to suggest that they were transporting the cattle legally. They are currently assisting the police with investigations,” he said.
“We would like to appreciate the informant, who is part of our stakeholders, for his concern and assistance in law enforcement, which led to the arrest of the suspects and the recovery of the 17 remaining cattle.”
