BCC Engineering Services Director Simela Dube Dies

Bulawayo City Council (BCC) Director of Engineering Services, Engineer Simela Dube, died this Thursday morning, the local authority has confirmed.

He was 56.

Engineer Dube was one of the key people instrumental in working out solutions to improve the city’s water crisis.

Bulawayo mayor, Councillor Solomon Mguni, confirmed Engineer Dube’s death via a bereavement notice sent out to members of the public.

“The city of Bulawayo would like to advise members of the public, residents of Bulawayo and stakeholders and fellow local authorities of the untimely death of our Director of Engineering Services,” he said.

“Engineer Simela Due died on the morning of Thursday, December 30, 2021 in Bulawayo. He was 56 years old. (Born 22 December 1965).”

Councillor Mguni said the local authority joined Engineer Dube;s family in mourning his loss.

“The city of Bulawayo joins the Dube family and the entire Bulawayo community in mourning the loss of Engineer Simela Dube,”

However, the cause of his death was not announced, with the mayor noting that “further details will be announced in due course.”
