By Costa Nkomo

Armed police violently disrupted a meeting of the Zimbabwe National Students Union (ZINASU) at the ZESA Training Centre in Belvedere, Harare, on Wednesday.

Over 60 students were reportedly assaulted and arrested during the crackdown, sparking serious concerns about the deteriorating human rights situation in the country, particularly ahead of the upcoming SADC Summit.

This incident follows Home Affairs Minister Kazembe Kazembe’s warning issued two days prior, urging citizens to “behave” or face consequences as the country prepares to host the regional summit.
