Alderman Lot Siziba dies

Former Ward 13 Councillor Alderman Lot Siziba has died.

In a bereavement notice, Bulawayo Mayor Solomon Mguni said Alderman Siziba succumbed to kidney failure at Hillside PSMAS Hospital on Thursday.

โ€œThe City of Bulawayo has learnt with sadness of the passing on of Alderman Lot Siziba. Alderman Siziba passed away on Thursday, 17 March 2022,โ€ said Councillor Mguni.

Mguni said Alderman Sizibaโ€™s death has left a void which the City will not be able to fill for many years to come.

โ€œAlderman Lot Siziba served as Ward 13 Councillor (comprising of – Iminyela, Mabuthweni, Pelandaba and Kelvin North) having been sworn in on the 2nd April 2008 and reelected and sworn in on the 16th of September 2013 for the 2013 to 2018 Council,โ€ the mayor said.

During his term of office he served in the following Council Committees;

(i) Health, Housing and Education (Deputy Chairman in 2012) (2008-2012),

(2013-2018)

(ii) Environmental Management and Engineering Services (2012-2013), (2017-2018)

(iii) Future Water Supplies and Water Action (2012-2013), (2017-2018)

(iv) Audit (Deputy Chairman in 2010)

(v) Finance and Development (2008-2012), (2013-2014)

(vi) Town Lands and Planning (2008-2012), (2013-2016)

(vii) General Purpose (2012)

During his term of office, Alderman Siziba served in the Health, Housing, and Education committee as the Deputy Chairman in 2012, again is 2008-2012 and also in 2013-2018.

He also served in different committees and these include Environmental Management and Engineering Services Committee in 2012-2013, and in 2017-2018. Future Water Supplies and Water Action Committee from 2012-2013, and in 2017 up to 2018, Audit (Deputy Chairman in 2010), Finance and Development (2008-2012), (2013-2014), Town Lands and Planning (2008-2012), (2013-2016) and the General Purpose Committee in 2012.

Mayor Mguni said Ald Siziba also represented the City of Bulawayo in various outside bodies and Committees which included the Zimbabwe Academy of Music Council (2008/2009), Hillside Teachersโ€™ College Advisory Council (2013/2018), Local Authorities Pension Fund Board of Trustees (2013/2014) and the Independence, Heroes Day Preparations Committee in 2013 to 2018.

โ€œHe was elevated to the dignity of Alderman on the 14th May 2018, a fitting status for a dedicated,โ€ He said.

Mourners are gathered at 58294/1 Mabutweni.

Alderman Lot Vimba-Siziba was born on the 11th of November 1938 (84 years old) in Shake, Matshetsheni, Gwanda North District to the late Joseph Vimba-Siziba and Siziba Moyo. He was the second born in a family of three boys namely Jecomia (late) and Austin (late).

He will be laid to rest in Stanmore, Gwanda on Sunday.
