Search continues for missing 11-year-old girl

The family of 10-year-old Tinomutenda Faith Mambewu, a pupil at Baines Primary School, have not lost hope of locating her, two months after she went missing.

Tinomutenda went missing on 13 July 2019 on her way home from school.

Speaking to CITE, her guardian Marian Maphosa said the family said they are still to come to terms with her disappearance.

“Tinomutenda has been missing for two months now, her mother passed away years back and I am the one who has been taking care of her. On that particular morning she went to school like any other day at around 7 am but did not return home,” said Maphosa.

“As parents who were not sure if the child really went to school on that particular day, we had to go to school to enquire of her whereabouts. Her class teacher indeed confirmed that she had attended class the previous day but last saw her when pupils were dismissed.

“Her teacher told us that after dismissing, she only remained with learners who were practicing music and on those who were on cleaning duty of which Tinomutenda was not on either group,” said Maphosa.

She said she even tried to make follow up with her friends but to no avail.

“On the second day after she went missing, I went back to the school to try and ask her friends who only told me that they walked home together and parted ways in North End.

When contacted for a comment, Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele said police are still making efforts to find the missing girl.

“We are still looking for her, we haven’t got a positive search at the moment but we are still trying.

“We have since advertised in the newspaper for anyone with information to come forward,” said Ass. Insp Msebele.

Anyone with information about Tinomutenda’s whereabouts can contact ZRP Sauertstown on (0292) 200 960 or the Investigating Officer on 0773 642352 or 0738 202 117 or inform the nearest police station.
