Senators warn of rising accident risk on Kwekwe-Silobela-Lupane road detours

In today’s bulletin, Senators have raised serious concerns over the safety of motorists using detours along the Kwekwe-Silobela-Lupane Road, warning that the temporary routes are becoming accident-prone due to speeding, inadequate road signage and poor visibility caused by dust. Somali piracy has surged again to levels not seen in about a decade. Since late April, eight hijackings have occurred, including two in August targeting an oil tanker linked to Iran and a Cameroon-flagged ship carrying military equipment for Turkey.
